Scorching with passion, our production of Medea directed by Kelly Kitchens starts rehearsals in a few weeks and we’re thrilled to announce the cast of artists joining us.
Alexandra Tavares will play the title character of Medea. Alexandra last appeared with Seattle Shakespeare Company as Emilia in Othello. Playing her husband Jason will be Sylvester F. Kamara. Sylvester has joined us for the past two seasons in our productions of Measure for Measure and Titus Andronicus.
The all-female chorus includes Maya Burton, Sunam Ellis, Chelsea Le Vally, Kathryn Van Meter, Lucy Weber and Dedra Woods.
Returning to our stage after many years are Kevin McKeon playing Aigeus, Peter Crook as Creon, and John Bianchi as the servant. Yadira Duarte, who appeared in our touring productions of last season will play the Nurse. Matthew Sherrill makes his debut as the tutor.
The creative team includes Andrea Bush (set design), Chelsea Cook (costume design), Kent Cubbage (lighting design), Donald Byrd (choreographer), and Shenandoah Davis (composer).
Medea runs October 18 through November 13 in the Center Theatre at Seattle Center.
